In fourth grade I came to this school in the middle of the year. I had no friends but then I made some friends and then suddenly I felt super happy that I was able to make friends.

In fifth grade I was a little more comfortable with this school. and then I got an awesome teacher named Andy. He gave us so much time to play outside so that way when we learned we were calm.

Memories at Village

Kindergarten,
In Kindergarten, I don’t remember many memories during the year of Kindergarten. Yet, there was one memory that could replay in mind was me, meeting my future best friend at the playground. I also had a teacher, Ms. Jolan who taught me and my other peers a lot.

First Grade,
In First Grade, I was too lucky to have, Ms. Shannon, who was very friendly and nice. Since she had a lesson plans on writing poems, I wrote poems with a friend of mine and published them. I also remember, me always getting lost in my picture books and, my Magic Treehouse chapter books.

Second Grade,
In Second Grade, I had Ms. Elizabeth as my teacher, she taught me tons of essential stuff for moving onto the next grade. During the year, I made new friends with the people in the classroom, and strengthened my friendships with others. We also had spectacular field trips as well!

Third Grade,
In Third Grade, Ms. Aisling was my teacher, she was very considerate and kind. One of the things I remember during third grade was how, every Friday in the early morning, Ms. Aisling would play a song named “Aloha Friday” which was the most memorable moment in third grade.

Fourth Grade,
In Fourth Grade, my teacher was, Ms. Talia, who was very flexible to our class, even if some people in our class were being disrespectful to her. A memory that I find really clear to me in my experience of fourth grade is, how some of the fifth graders in the class would constantly sing songs from musicals.

Fifth Grade,
In Fifth Grade, I was really glad and lucky to have, the only one, Mr. Andy! (And he’s doing a good job at preparing the class for 5th/6th grade!) I was able to enjoy this year, even if some my friends left this school. I was glad to find news ones this year. Another memory, is math rotations which helped me progress through the subject a lot with the help of Ms. Jill.

Something I am going to take with me going to school at Village is to always somehow to be, kind, respectful, considerate, and to have integrity.

In 1st grade I remember when Ms. Shannon gave us all candy for a lockdown drill, I was so scared but the candy was so good.

I also remember my first day of Second grade. I gave Mr. Chris an apple at snack he said it was so good and took a big bite of the apple. I remember how much that made me smile even now that still makes me smile.

In Third grade I remember that we had jobs and we got money for doing our jobs and we got to spend it to get prizes, it was so fun.

In Fourth I remember we did box buddies and my box buddy was Rafe. He sat next to me it was so fun doing box buddies and it was so fun to see who got me and everyone else.

In Fifth grade it was my last year. I remember science camp, it was so fun and cool to meet everyone there. I remember when my cabin leader was so cool and really fun to play with.

My Village School Memories

By Carter

2nd grade: Second grade was my welcoming year to Village. Kinder and 1st grade I spent in our neighboring school Capri. In second grade I remember word work, Mondays I sat on the carpet while we learned our words we worked on the rest of the week. I remember fridays in word work after we finished everything we got to play games. Thursdays my grandma worked in my sisters kindergarten class. In second grade our class name was the Chillin`Chiwawas, our color on the t-shirt was purple (I voted against it).

3rd grade: I remember stiching my bowtie in my class t-shirt. I remember tye dyeing my shirt and my reaction when I got it. I remember picking our class name and what our final name was, The Tye Dye Tigers. I wanted the Crumbling Cookies and the Flying Fireflies. I remember field trips such as the beach and this delicious bread place.

4th grade: I remember designing our t-shirt and picking the colors. I remember I wanted Miracle Manta Rays but few people voted for that. Instead we got the Fearless Falcons. I remember I sat in the corner of the class one time next to my fiend Santi. I remember P.E. I always looked up to the fifth graders because they were bigger and better than everyone.

5th grade: Well first of all I am currently in Fifth Grade so I remember the most about it. I remember and love Walden West. I had fun hiking, but most of all, the adrenaline of doing new things. I’ve never spent a whole week away from my family. Actually, I’ve never spent a whole week anywhere but my house. It really is my highlight of Fifth Grade and Village School. Of course I can remember the most recent things but I do remember the start of Fifth Grade coming out of summer it was tiring. I had to get up so early it was a nightmare.

Second grade
In second grade I was in Mr. Chris’s class. Mr. Chris was funny and talented. At the end of the day he has a basketball hoop in his classroom and we could dunk or shoot, I miss Second Grade.

Third grade
In third grade I remember when I had a fun year with Ms. Roberta. We had a store where we had to add numbers and see how much money you would earn and you would buy stuffed animals.

Fourth grade
Fourth grade was awesome because my old class and me would always go outside to the playground and run around the field. I miss Fourth Grade.

Fifth grade
In fifth grade my teacher is really nice and I think he should be teacher of the year because Mr. Andy is out of this world and that’s why I think Mr. Andy should be the best teacher in the school.

Kindergarten
In Kindergarten, I remember being scared to go to elementary school, but I got used to the school and I made some of the best friends you could ever wish for.

First grade
In First grade, I was so lucky to get amazing teachers and I got to participate in a place called “Kid Town”. Kid town was a little town in both of the first grade classes that you could buy stuff in with money you earned.

Second grade
In Second grade, I remember playing an awesome game against your whole class, and I won! I got to keep an awesome trophy!

Third grade
In Third grade, I had a supper funny teacher that always made classmates feel better!

Fourth grade
In Fourth grade, I got to make friends with older kids (Since I was in a 4 and 5 grade class) but, it was sad to have awesome friends for only a year and, say “Goodbye” so soon.

Fifth grade
In Fifth Grade, I got to go to Walden West which was a week long, camp overnight, away from your parents, outdoors. It was a fun experience and I got to learn about nature.

In Village I learned how to stand up to bullies hurting me or any of my friends. It’s always best to stand up to bullies even if you don’t know who the person getting bullied is.

My Adventures at Village School

By Asher A.

My adventures at Village School have been very exciting from Kindergarten to 5th grade, I will never forget this school, it will always be in my heart.

Kindergarten — Magical Friends
Kindergarten was my first year at village school. I don’t remember much because I was 5, I only remember missing a lot of school because of my health condition.

First grade — Magical Mustaches
I remember my teacher, Ms. Shannon and our pet turtle Kee kee. I also remember Shaving cream on tables, That was very fun. She doesn’t teach here anymore because she takes care of her toddler Stellan.

Second Grade — Surfing Sea Otters
Mr. Chris was my teacher that year, he’s Ms. Shannon’s husband. Mr. Chris would play his guitar for us when we worked, He was an awesome teacher.

Third Grade — Tye Dye Tigers
For third grade I had Ms. Aising, She was a very enthusiastic teacher she loved the beach and the ocean, I remember Sawyer, her toddler that she brought to school. That was also the year that we got to Tye-dye our class shirts.

Fourth grade — Snowboarding Snow Leopards
This was definitely my favorite year of all time, my teacher was Ms. Michele, she had a huge library, and was very encouraging person, she is very calm and cool and never overreacted.

Fifth Grade — Talented Toucans
Luckily I got Ms. Michele again, I remember Science camp the most, she helped me along the way. The falcon camera was very popular in my class between fourth and fifth grade as well. I will definitely miss Village.

Science Camp — Scrub Jays
Around February in fifth grade you get to go to science camp with your friends, Everyone had a cabin of around 19 kids, luckily I was put with all my friends and some kids from other schools. I eventually became with friends with everyone in my cabin, but the one thing I didn’t like the most was the schedule. We woke up around 6:00 with staff turning the lights on with guitar music playing on the loudspeaker, while saying wakey wakey Scrub Jays. Overall I had fun and I was taught good lessons.

Village Memories

By Cael

I have been at Village for 6 years now and there is so much to remember from kinder to 5th. This is a list of the most memorable things that happened in each grade:

Kindergarten: Magical Friends
In 2012-2013 I started kindergarten. I met most of my best friends and I remember having Ms. Jolan who left the next year though. During kindergarten I learned how to read which is one of my favorite things to do. Our class name was called the “magical friends” because most of the boys in the class wanted to be dragons and most of the girls wanted to be unicorns so Ms. Jolan said “Lets be the Magical Friends!”.

1st Grade: Magical Mustaches
In 1st grade I met one of my favorite teachers Ms. Shannon and that was a really fun year. One thing I will always remember from 1st grade is that I went to Mr. Chris’ 2nd grade class for math so I started feeling more comfortable around older kids.

2nd Grade: Surfing Sea Otters
The thing I will remember most about 2nd grade is Mr. Chris. Mr. Chris was probably my favorite teacher I had at Village. Mr. Chris would always play songs while we were working. I also suggested the name “surfing sea otters” because I didn’t want a class name that started with “magical.”

3rd Grade: Tye Dye Tigers
The thing I will remember about 3rd grade is Ms. Aisling. Ms. Aisling always gave us time to read which is one of my favorite things to do. Ms. Aisling would always decorate the walls of the classroom to make it feel more lively and she also had really squishy chairs and bean bags.

4th Grade: Snowboarding Snow Leopards
4th grade was a totally new experience for me because I was in a 4th/5th grade mix class so there were alot of older kids. I was always so anxious to be a 5th grader because they would always get to do special things like fitness testing and science camp.

5th Grade: Talented Toucans
In 5th grade I was honestly disappointed in the class name because it is kinda boring. In 5th grade I got to do fitness testing and science camp. Science camp was not my thing because I hate hiking and that’s what we did a majority of the time. 5th grade is not over yet so I don’t know what else to write.

I like how my friends take such care of me and I take care of them. They will always be in my heart even when I am not there. Also I will always remember Walden West and my teachers.

Village School Memories

By Kevin

My favorite village school memories were cooking with Gina, Walden West and all the kind teachers who will respect you. I have had so many good memories at Village School, I can’t name them all. What I have learned at Village School and will never forget is integrity, to do the right thing when nobody’s watching. I will always miss Village School after I leave. Overall, Village School is a great place with all the parent participation, you will always feel safe. In conclusion, I think Village School was a great elementary school for me to go to.

My Time at Village School

By Layla

My time here at Village School was unforgettable. From the moment I walked into the gate, from the moment I walked out, there was this feeling, this feeling of happiness of me walking out that gate. Saying goodbye to all of my friends and being anxious to come back the next day. One of my favorite things about Village School was the fact that I learned it was okay to be me. I got to express myself in so many ways. Through art, music, and I got to show my love for sports in P.E. I learned so many things here that I don’t think I could have learned anywhere else. This school always felt like a second home to me. There was always a friend around the corner, and there was always new memories to be made. Without this school, I never would have met all my amazing friends and my BEST friend here. I know this is something I will never forget.

By Lindsey

My favorite memory is making friends at Village School. I learned to make friends and how to do it. I learned how to make friends with other classmates and other teachers. When I first came here in kindergarten, I was super shy and now I love public speaking. I now have a lot of friends and a lot of things to do during recess. Some friends do different things at recess and some do different things in the classroom but I love every one of them. They are all honest with me and I am honest with them. We all share the same likes and dislikes even though we look very different. I feel like it is ok to share my deepest secrets with them. I feel safe in the Village School community. One thing that I will take away from Village is that it is ok to make friends and it is ok to be different. That is what I will remember best of my Village experience.

Memories

My memories at Village School were, number one science camp. Science camp was very fun because you got to go on hikes and you sing songs. It was very fun. My next fun memory was kid town, in 1st grade you were given fake money and you worked and you could buy stuff. I have a goldfish from kid town and it’s still a live! My last memory is field trips, in one year you go about 8 field trips and they are all very fun! Those are some fun memories that I had at Village School.

Favorite Village School Memories

By Ty

Going to Village school is a awesome opportunity that everyone should have. Some of my favorite memories include kid town in first grade and cooking with Gina, Science camp in fifth grade and Sacramento in fourth grade. In Village I learned how to read and write. I also learned how to be a good person by standing up to bullies and following the M & M’s (Model Respect, Make Good Choices, Solve Problems). The teachers in Village are awesome and help you when needed. You won’t get a bad teacher in Village. In Village I made friends that I will have for a long time. One of my favorite things about Village is the field trips and the parent participation. Over all Village is the best elementary school that anyone can go to.

Village Memories

By Josie

My experience at village school was fantastic! I remember learning how to read, write, use a growth mindset, use integrity, be a upstander, make friends and more. Village is a great experience that I will never forget. The thing I will miss most about village is the family here. Since it is such a small school everyone knows each other. When it was my kindergarten year I remember I was so scared coming to a new school but I had my brother, even though he was in fifth grade I knew he would be there for me. Even when I didn’t see him I knew he was there. That year he was my reading buddy which is also one of the many amazing things about Village. Some people who did not have their sibling as their reading buddy said it was like having a older sibling because the friendship / bond was so strong. It was so sad on the last day but we knew they had to, just like us this year. In first grade, we did kid town which is an activity that all of the first graders do, it is where every kid chooses about 5 booths for each class and I remember some of them like face paint, candy, music and the pet store etc. Our teacher gave us fake money and we got about 10 dollars to spend on whatever we wanted. We also had shifts so if I wanted to buy something I would have to wait for my shift to be over then I could go and buy what I wanted( get the idea). Kid town was so fun and an experience that I will never forget. In first grade we learned how to be a good friend and that being a good friend is not just playing with your friend it is also listening to them and helping them when in need. Later in second grade, we got a super fun experience, we got to do Montalvo Arts. Michelle from Montalvo Arts would come once or twice every two weeks. We learned about the environment and how to take care of it and make sure water is not wasted. In third grade, we learned how to write a narrative and how to work independently and edit your own work. No matter what subject it is in. We wrote an informational book I wrote mine about constellations and we were taught how to look for information and restate it so it is not copyright. In fourth grade, we went to Sacramento we learned about the gold rush and got to do a bunch of fun activities like pan for gold, a treasure hunt and more. Last but not least fifth grade this is the year I graduate from Village and I do not want to leave the fun and love that Village brings. It is so awesome and amazing that I wish it went till eighth grade. I am going to miss everything about it here but I have to leave eventually and I am glad I got to go to this wonderful school that I will never forget.

Kindergarten: Ms. Lori Funny Foxes — Ms. Jolan Magical Friends

First grade: Ms. Shannon Magical Mustaches — Ms. Sandy and Ms. Gina Bearded Cosmos

Second grade: Ms. Elizabeth Chilin Chiwawas — Mr. Chris Surfin Sea Otters

Sacramento

By Sohum

My favorite memory of the school year was Sacramento. It was amazing, I loved everything about it but I was not a big fan on the 3 hour bus ride. The bus had lean back chairs, tv’s, we were served snacks, and there were restrooms. We watched The Muppets Movie and March Of The Penguins. But it was so long. When we got there we went to a museum we learned about the gold rush and we went Panning for gold! I did not get any gold but I did get silver. We learned some really cool facts. Also we did a scavenger hunt to find things about the Gold Rush. Then they took us on a tour of old Sacramento which was amazing. Then it was around 4:00. So then we got back in the bus and we went to the State Capitol Building.

When we got there we had to go through security. Then the State Capitol Building was beautiful, the first thing we saw was a whole wall filled with every county, which was so cool. In the middle of the state capitol building there was a statue made out of gold. Then there was a painting of every single governor, at that time we had governor Jerry Brown. Above the paintings on the ceiling there was a stained glass window that was the california state seal. My favorite thing about the state capitol building was the assembly room which was all ruby and the senate room was all emerald. Also the governor’s office was cool although we did not get to go inside but outside of the office there was two guards and two statues of grizzly bears. It was awesome.

5th Grade Memories

By Paolo

2nd grade
I came to Village school in 2nd grade and it was really fun. I had Mrs Elizabeth for a teacher. I made a lot of friends.

3rd grade
In 3rd grade I had Ms Roberta. We had Jobs and every week we got a paycheck that we could spend in the store every Friday.

4th grade
In 4th grade I had Ms Michele and she was the best teacher I had. She was really fun. In 4th grade we went on the Sacramento trip and it was super fun. We panned for gold and took a tour of old Sacramento.

5th grade
In 5th grade I had Ms. Michele again and we went to Walden West for a week and that was really fun. The only bad thing was that the wake up call was really brutal, our cabin leader flicked the lights on and off again and again while saying wakey wakey with rock music playing over the loudspeakers. It was still fun. We got to learn about banana slugs and a lot of other stuff.
