Spotlight on New Staff

Meet music teacher, Jamie Piazza

Village welcomed a new music teacher this year. Jamie comes to us from Rhythm & Moves, Inc. who provide our Music and Physical Education curriculum. If you see Jamie on campus (or around town), please give her a warm Village welcome!

“I was born in and grew up in San Jose! When I decided to pursue music as a major that led me to the East Bay where I have spent the last twelve years. I have my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Vocal Performance from California State University East Bay. Singing is my heart and teaching doesn’t fall far from it. I started my teaching career teaching preschool music and giving private voice and piano lessons. I spent the last year finishing my Masters and teaching elementary music at Fountainhead Montessori in Dublin.

“I started working for Rhythm & Moves in 2019 when I was placed at Village. I was very pleased to be moving back to where I grew up. Im living in Willow Glen with my cat Gus and am enjoying the cute neighborhood around me. I am overwhelmed by the community here at Village. I grew up in private school and Village has a very similar community feel. I think my favorite thing about Village are its core values. It is very special to see all the students, teachers, and parents working towards the same goal. I love it here! In addition to teaching here at Village I am pursing my teaching credential and running a private music studio in Pleasanton where I teach voice and piano lessons. I love working with children one-on-one to meet their musical performance goals! I hope to offer a voice class to the Village students off campus before years end. There is so much vocal talent among the students here!

“Over the last seven years I have sung in various rock bands and performed in venues throughout the Bay Area like Slims and DNA Lounge. While I am not currently in a band I hope to get back into a project when I finish my teaching credential this summer. Outside of teaching at Village I love to get away to Santa Cruz or Monterey to enjoy the ocean breeze and dinner by the water. I go to shows on occasion in the area and across the bay. In the last few years I have found my love for orchestral music and regularly find myself at Davies Symphony Hall.

“I look forward to a wonderful year teaching at Village School!”
