This year, as part of our Continous Improvement efforts at the school level, teachers are asking students what is important to them in their classroom community.  How will they, as students, show up for each other?  Students' voices are then captured as a classroom mission statement. Each mission statement is different because it reflects the classroom community that created it.

Classroom Mission Statements support Continous improvement by reminding us

Who are we? What do we value?

 and by defining

How will we work together?

What do we want to accomplish? What are our goals?

We will feature different mission statements throughout this school year.
Here is an example from one of our 4th and 5th grade multi-age classrooms.

Dear Village Community,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 year! We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with you and to welcome our students, families, and staff back to another fantastic year at Village.

This year, we are focusing on three key themes that we believe will make our school an even better place for learning and growing:

  1. Effective Communication: We are committed to enhancing the way we connect with you. Expect regular updates, clear information, and open channels to share your thoughts and feedback. The majority of office and teacher communication will be sent through Parent Square.  Communication from the PTA will come through Konstella.  Please make sure you have access to both platforms.  Your voice matters, and we want to ensure you feel well-informed and involved in our school community.

  2. Kindness Matters: Kindness will be at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive and caring environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Let's work together to create a positive atmosphere where every student and staff member knows that their well-being is a priority.

  3. Continuous Improvement: Our goal is always to get better and better. We will continuously seek ways to enhance our teaching methods, enrich our programs, and support our students' growth. We believe that by embracing a mindset of continuous improvement, we can provide the best possible educational experience for all.

Thank you for being an essential part of our community. Together, we can make this year memorable and successful. Let’s embrace these themes with enthusiasm and work together to make a positive difference.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Sincerely,

Alicia Mommer
