Distinguished School Award 2014
Village School has been awarded the California Distinguished School Award. This award is given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a selection process. In 2012, 387 schools received this award.
The application process consists of a written application, which includes a comprehensive description of two of the school’s signature practices, and a county-led site validation review process, which validates the implementation of those signature practices. The written application was submitted in December 2013. The signature practices chosen were Centers and Positive School Climate.
